Livestock feeding system components are typically manufactured from specialty engineering resins selected for chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and livestock safety. Polypropylene is widely used for feeding and watering system components due to its chemical resistance and durability. Glass-filled nylon is used where added stiffness and mechanical strength are required. Material selection must account for the specific chemicals, cleaners, and environmental conditions the components will be exposed to in a livestock operation.
