Design for Manufacturability (DFM) is the practice of evaluating and optimizing a part’s design before tooling is built, ensuring it can be manufactured efficiently and at the lowest possible cost. We apply DFM to every program across both metal and plastic manufacturing. For combined programs like insert molding or overmolding, DFM evaluates both processes together, because design decisions on the metal component directly affect the plastic molding outcome.
