Engineering

Over 70 years of experience with DFM (Design For Manufacturability) of plastic molded parts, metal stamped parts, dies, fixtures, gages, and internal automation equipment.

Quality Labs

Fully equipped with CMM equipment, Rockwell Hardness testers, optical comparators, tensile testing equipment, CMM, Static Load Testing Equipment, and much more.

Metals Division

With 86,000 square feet of manufacturing, our current equipment lineup includes 20 stamping presses with capabilities including welding, riveting, chemical passivation, and assembly. LMC will provide the stamping assets to meet your metal forming needs.

Plastics Division

140,700 square feet of manufacturing with 62 injection molding equipment, horizontal & vertical (for insert over molded parts), ranging from 85 tons to 850 tons. Expertise in conversion of metal parts to engineered plastic materials.

Design

In-house capability and experience utilizing CAD solid modeling, prototyping, mold flow software, and 70 years of proven experience designing complex parts.

Tool Room

14,000 square feet maintaining metal stamping dies, injection molds complete with CNC milling, water jet machining, wire EDM, conventional EDM, and TIG welding.

Production

A skilled and trained conscientious workforce utilizing a highly automated, clean, lean, and friendly production environment. We practice the cell concept.

Supply Chain/Materials

Total EDI capability and inventory tracking system. Supply replenishment programs tailored to customer needs. We practice 100% on-time delivery.

SUCCESS STORIES

Automotive Accelerator Assemblies

LMC invented a solution to assuring that moisture did not intrude in on the electronic assembly and automatically performed mistake-proofing (Poka Yoke) to assure the assembly was defect free.

Multiple station equipment validating:

Bushings are all present and all set at the correct depth.
No pin holes present to allow moisture in the assembly.
Blind slotted hole was properly formed.

Handicap Ramp System for Major Big Box Retailer

LMC worked extensively with the team to recommend materials, establish the best DFM (design for manufacturability) and design a high strength set of parts incorporating both metal and plastic reducing the cost of the components.

Transportation Industry Equipment Company

Butterfly Valve

LMC  recommended a plastic material that would replace a more costly and more importantly a heavier metal material for the trucking industry.  Using the extensive Engineering experience and tools available LMC was able to supply the tooling to fit a complex part design with critical dimensions.

LMC is working on other complex conversions of metal to plastic applications

Major Consumer Products Company

D-con Mouse Trap – LMC worked to redesign a bulky mouse trap housing :

Reducing the wall thickness which in short order recovered the cost of the new tooling

Improved the latch mechanism that was previously not reliable

Recommended a 3-D engraving of the company logo that greatly enhanced the aesthetics –The customer sales group was very pleased with the improvement and felt it would help boost sales

LMC received several aged tools (stack molds) for high volume closures and refurbished the tooling and continues to supply parts today

Weapons Manufacturer AR-15 Upper and Lower Receiver

LMC reviewed the issues with the previous supplier’s parts and:

Made numerous DFM recommendations

Recommended a more suitable and more stable material

Designed and supplied new tooling much more robust to eliminate the great number of issues with the previous tools

Grain Supply System Products

LMC received transferred in tooling for 130 parts to allow the customer to utilize their resources for their core competency.

LMC set-up and sampled each tool in an 11 week period keeping the customer lines supplied with parts during the transition

LMC recommended critical characteristics for each part to be used by both companies in checking the quality of the parts

LMC performs all of the tool maintenance on the tools “in-house” – many of the tools are very old and were built in Asia at a low cost. LMC has improved the condition on the molds.

LMC has supplied more robust tooling from Asia for new and or replacement parts under our management from both here in the US and on site in Asia.
